Used For:

This combination medication is used to manage Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus by:

• Empagliflozin (SGLT2 Inhibitor): Helps the kidneys remove excess glucose through urine, lowering blood sugar levels.
• Linagliptin (DPP-4 Inhibitor): Increases insulin secretion and decreases glucagon levels, improving blood sugar control after meals.

Side Effects:

• Common:

  • Increased urination
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • Genital yeast infections
  • Headache
  • Stuffy or runny nose

• Serious:

  • Ketoacidosis (nausea, vomiting, difficulty breathing)
  • Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) (especially if used with insulin or sulfonylureas)
  • Pancreatitis (severe stomach pain, nausea, vomiting)
  • Dehydration & low blood pressure (dizziness, fainting)
  • Severe urinary tract infections
