Vilget-M 50/1000mg Tablets are a combination medication used to manage type 2 diabetes. This formulation typically contains:
- Vildagliptin (50 mg): A DPP-4 inhibitor that enhances the levels of incretin hormones, which help regulate insulin secretion and decrease the production of glucose in the liver.
- Metformin (1000 mg): A biguanide that helps lower blood glucose levels by improving insulin sensitivity and decreasing glucose production in the liver.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort.
- Some patients might experience headaches, dizziness, or fatigue.
- Other potential side effects can include upper respiratory tract infections, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), especially when combined with other antidiabetic drugs, and a metallic taste in the mouth.
- In rare cases, serious side effects such as lactic acidosis (characterized by symptoms like muscle pain, weakness, difficulty breathing), pancreatitis, or allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing) may occur.
Precautions:
- Before taking Vilget-M 50/1000mg Tablets, inform your doctor if you have any known allergies, medical conditions (such as kidney or liver disease, heart disease, or a history of lactic acidosis), or if you are taking any other medications, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements.
- This medication should be used with caution in patients with kidney impairment or those at risk for cardiovascular issues.
- Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels, kidney function, and other relevant parameters is essential during treatment.
