Used For:

• Depression: Venlafaxine is primarily used to treat major depressive disorder (MDD), helping to alleviate symptoms like persistent sadness, loss of interest, and fatigue.
• Anxiety Disorders: It is also used for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder (SAD), and panic disorder, reducing symptoms like excessive worry and fear.
• Other Uses: Venlafaxine can be prescribed for painful neuropathies and chronic pain conditions, such as fibromyalgia or musculoskeletal pain.

Side Effects:

• Common: Nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, insomnia, sweating, and sexual dysfunction.
• Serious: Increased blood pressure (especially at higher doses), suicidal thoughts or behavior, severe allergic reactions, serotonin syndrome (symptoms include confusion, rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, and muscle stiffness).
