Product Description

Product Name: Telsarta D Tablets 40/12.5mg

Product Form: Tablets

Pack Size: 14's

Manufactured By: PharmEvo

Used For:

Telsarta D Tablets combine two active ingredients: telmisartan (40mg) and hydrochlorothiazide (12.5mg). Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill). This combination is primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) when one medication alone is not sufficient. By lowering blood pressure, it helps reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Telsarta D Tablets may include:

  • Dizziness or lightheadedness, especially when standing up quickly.
  • Fatigue or weakness.
  • Increased urination, particularly in the first few weeks of treatment.
  • Nausea or stomach upset.
  • Dry mouth.

Less common but serious side effects may include:

  • Electrolyte imbalances (e.g., low potassium, low sodium).
  • Hyperkalemia (high potassium levels).
  • Dehydration and low blood pressure.
  • Allergic reactions, such as rash, itching, or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat.
  • Kidney or liver dysfunction.

Precautions:

  • Pregnancy: Telsarta D should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can harm the unborn baby. Consult your doctor immediately if you become pregnant while taking this medication.
  • Kidney Function: Regular monitoring of kidney function is recommended, especially in patients with existing kidney conditions.
  • Electrolyte Imbalance: Hydrochlorothiazide can cause electrolyte imbalances, so it's important to have regular blood tests to monitor levels of potassium, sodium, and other electrolytes.
  • Dehydration Risk: Avoid becoming dehydrated, particularly in hot weather or during exercise, as the diuretic component may lead to excessive fluid loss.
  • Liver Function: Caution is advised in patients with liver impairment. Monitoring may be required.
  • Dizziness: This medication may cause dizziness, so avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.
