Used For:

  1. Treats benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) – enlarged prostate.

  2. Dutasteride: Shrinks the prostate by blocking DHT hormone production.

  3. Tamsulosin: Relaxes muscles in the prostate and bladder neck for easier urination.

  4. Improves urine flow and reduces BPH symptoms like urgency and weak stream.

  5. May reduce the need for prostate surgery in the long term.

Side Effects:

  • Decreased libido or sexual dysfunction

  • Ejaculation disorders

  • Breast tenderness or enlargement

  • Dizziness (especially from Tamsulosin)

  • Rare: Allergic reactions or swelling

Precaution:

  • Not for use in women or children—can cause birth defects if handled during pregnancy.

  • May take several months for full effect.

  • Avoid donating blood for at least 6 months after stopping Dutasteride.

  • Stand up slowly to avoid dizziness.

  • Inform your doctor of any planned eye surgery (risk of floppy iris syndrome)
