Product Description

Product Name: Talergin Tablets 10mg

Product Form: Tablets

Pack Size: 10's

Manufactured By: Wilson's Pharmaceuticals

Used For:

  • Loratadine is a second-generation antihistamine used primarily to treat allergy symptoms such as:
    • Seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever), which includes symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, and itching of the eyes, nose, or throat.
    • Perennial allergic rhinitis (year-round allergies), including those caused by dust, pet dander, or mold.
    • Chronic urticaria (hives), to relieve itching and rash.

Side Effects:

  • Common Side Effects: Headache, dry mouth, drowsiness (although less sedating compared to first-generation antihistamines), and dizziness.
  • Serious Side Effects: Rare but can include allergic reactions (swelling of the face or throat, rash, trouble breathing), fast or irregular heartbeat, and severe dizziness or fainting.

Precautions:

  • Drowsiness: Loratadine is less sedating than older antihistamines (like diphenhydramine), but in some individuals, it may still cause drowsiness, especially in higher doses. It is advisable to see how the medication affects you before performing activities requiring alertness, such as driving.
  • Liver Function: Loratadine is metabolized in the liver, so patients with liver disease may require lower doses or should use it cautiously.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Loratadine is classified as Category B during pregnancy, meaning it is considered generally safe for use in pregnant women, but should still be used under medical supervision. It is excreted in breast milk, so caution is advised when used by breastfeeding mothers.
  • Kidney Disease: Loratadine should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease, as it may accumulate in the body.
  • Drug Interactions: Loratadine is generally considered safe with most medications, but caution is advised when taken with drugs that affect the liver (such as certain antifungals, antibiotics, or antidepressants), as they may interfere with how loratadine is metabolized.
