Product Description

Product Name: T-Mat Tablets 25mg

Product Form:  Tablets

Pack Size: 60's

Manufactured By: Panacea Pharma

Used For:

  • Topiramate is an anticonvulsant medication primarily used to treat epilepsy (to prevent and control seizures) and migraine headaches (for both prevention and acute treatment).
  • It is also used off-label for conditions such as bipolar disorder, weight loss (as an adjunct with other medications), and sometimes for neuropathic pain.

Side Effects:

  • Common Side Effects: Tingling or numbness in the hands or feet, loss of appetite, weight loss, dizziness, fatigue, memory or concentration problems, and altered taste.
  • Serious Side Effects: Vision problems (like eye pain or blurred vision), kidney stones, cognitive difficulties (such as memory or concentration problems), mood changes, or depression. In rare cases, it may cause metabolic acidosis (a condition in which blood becomes too acidic) or glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye).

Precautions:

  • Kidney Stones: Topiramate can increase the risk of developing kidney stones. It's important to stay well-hydrated while on the medication.
  • Cognitive Effects: Some people may experience cognitive side effects like difficulty with memory, concentration, or speech. These effects tend to improve once the body adjusts to the medication.
  • Eye Health: Regular eye exams may be recommended, as topiramate can cause eye-related issues like blurred vision or increased eye pressure, which can lead to glaucoma in rare cases.
  • Pregnancy: Topiramate can increase the risk of birth defects, particularly cleft lip/palate if used during pregnancy. It should only be used in pregnancy if the potential benefits outweigh the risks.
  • Hydration and Electrolytes: Monitor for dehydration and keep electrolyte levels in check, especially if experiencing side effects like vomiting, diarrhea, or reduced fluid intake.
  • Alcohol: Alcohol can increase the sedative effects of topiramate, so it should be used cautiously or avoided.
  • Other Medications: Topiramate may interact with other drugs, including birth control pills, increasing the risk of seizure or affecting hormonal efficacy.
