Used For:
- Pregabalin is primarily used to treat nerve pain (neuropathy) associated with conditions like diabetes, shingles (post-herpetic neuralgia), and spinal cord injury.
- It is also prescribed for generalized anxiety disorder, fibromyalgia, and as an adjunctive treatment for partial seizures in epilepsy.
Side Effects:
- Common Side Effects: Dizziness, sleepiness, weight gain, dry mouth, blurred vision, and swelling (edema).
- Serious Side Effects: Allergic reactions (rash, swelling), muscle pain/weakness, trouble breathing, and changes in mood or behavior such as depression or suicidal thoughts.
Precautions:
- CNS Depression: Pregabalin can cause sedation and impair mental and physical abilities, so care should be taken when driving or operating machinery.
