Used For:

  • Hypertension (High Blood Pressure): This triple combination medication is often prescribed for patients who need multiple drugs to achieve blood pressure control.
    • Valsartan: An angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels to lower blood pressure.
    • Amlodipine: A calcium channel blocker that helps relax and widen blood vessels, improving blood flow.
    • Hydrochlorothiazide: A thiazide diuretic ("water pill") that reduces fluid in the body by increasing urine production, which helps lower blood pressure.

Side Effects:

  • Common Side Effects: Dizziness, headache, fatigue, nausea, swelling of ankles or feet (from amlodipine), and increased urination (from hydrochlorothiazide).
  • Less Common: Low blood pressure, dehydration, muscle cramps, or dry mouth.
