Product Description

Product Name: Silo-M Tablets 50+500mg

Product Form: Tablets

Pack Size: 14's

Manufactured By: Macter International

Used For:

Silo-M Tablets combine sildenafil (50 mg) and metformin (500 mg). This combination is somewhat unconventional, as sildenafil is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and metformin is used to manage type 2 diabetes. However, this combination may be used in patients who have both conditions, as both ED and type 2 diabetes are often comorbid.

  1. Sildenafil (50 mg):

    • Treats erectile dysfunction (ED) by increasing blood flow to the penis to help achieve and maintain an erection.
  2. Metformin (500 mg):

    • Manages type 2 diabetes by improving blood sugar control. It works by decreasing glucose production in the liver and increasing insulin sensitivity.

Side Effects:

Sildenafil:

  • Common: Headache, flushing, upset stomach, nasal congestion, dizziness, vision changes (such as increased sensitivity to light, blurred vision), back pain, muscle pain.
  • Serious (seek medical attention): Sudden vision loss in one or both eyes (NAION), sudden hearing loss or ringing in the ears, chest pain, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, severe dizziness or fainting, painful or prolonged erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism), signs of an allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing).

Metformin:

  • Common: Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea, weakness, metallic taste.
  • Serious (seek medical attention): Lactic acidosis (symptoms include muscle pain, weakness, trouble breathing, stomach pain, dizziness, feeling cold, or slow/irregular heartbeat), signs of an allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing).

Precautions:

  • Allergies: Inform your doctor if you have any known allergies to sildenafil, metformin, or other ingredients in Silo-M Tablets.
  • Medical History: Provide a complete medical history, particularly if you have heart problems (such as a recent heart attack or stroke, irregular heartbeat), high or low blood pressure, liver or kidney disease, dehydration, penis conditions (such as angulation, fibrosis, or Peyronie's disease), history of painful/prolonged erection (priapism), eye problems (such as retinitis pigmentosa, sudden vision loss), or metabolic acidosis.
  • Medications: Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, and herbal supplements. Sildenafil can interact with nitrates (used for chest pain) and alpha-blockers (used for high blood pressure or prostate problems), while metformin can interact with medications affecting kidney function and other drugs.
  • Alcohol: Limit alcohol consumption, as it can increase the risk of side effects such as lactic acidosis with metformin and dizziness with sildenafil.
  • Driving and Operating Machinery: Both medications can cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how the combination affects you.
  • Diet and Lifestyle: Maintain a proper diet and exercise regimen as recommended by your healthcare provider. Metformin should be taken with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.
  • Regular Monitoring: Regular blood sugar monitoring and periodic liver and kidney function tests are essential while taking this combination.
