Used For:

  • Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): Silodosin helps relax the muscles in the bladder neck and prostate, making it easier to urinate and reducing symptoms such as weak urine flow, frequent urination, and difficulty in starting urination.

Side Effects:

  • Common Side Effects:
    • Dizziness
    • Orthostatic hypotension (a drop in blood pressure when standing up)
    • Retrograde ejaculation (semen enters the bladder rather than exiting through the penis)
  • Less Common Side Effects:
    • Nasal congestion
    • Diarrhea
    • Headache
    • Fatigue

Precautions:

  • Orthostatic Hypotension: Silodosin can cause a drop in blood pressure upon standing, which may lead to dizziness or fainting. Move slowly from sitting to standing to minimize this risk.
