Used For:

• Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV): Acyclovir is used to treat initial and recurrent episodes of genital herpes, as well as cold sores (herpes labialis).
• Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV): It is used to treat chickenpox (varicella) and shingles (herpes zoster).
• Cytomegalovirus (CMV): While not a primary treatment, it may be used in some cases of CMV infection, particularly in immunocompromised patients.
• Prophylaxis: Acyclovir may be used preventively in patients with frequent outbreaks or in immunocompromised individuals to reduce the risk of viral infections.
