Used For:

Sitagliptin is an oral antidiabetic medication (DPP-4 inhibitor) used to treat Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) by:

• Increasing insulin release after meals.
• Reducing glucagon levels (which lowers blood sugar).
• Improving overall blood sugar control without causing weight gain.

Often prescribed alone or with metformin for better glucose control.

Side Effects:

• Common:

  • Nausea
  • Headache
  • Stomach pain
  • Mild upper respiratory symptoms (stuffy nose, sore throat)

• Serious (but rare):

  • Pancreatitis (severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting)
  • Severe joint pain
