Used For:

• Prevention of Stroke and Blood Clots in people with atrial fibrillation (not caused by a heart valve problem)
• Treatment and Prevention of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
• Prevention of Blood Clots after knee or hip replacement surgery
• Reducing Risk of Cardiovascular Events in people with coronary artery disease (CAD) or peripheral artery disease (PAD)

Side Effects:

• Bleeding (increased risk of bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums)
• Anemia (low red blood cell count)
• Nausea or upset stomach
• Rarely, liver enzyme elevation
• Dizziness or fatigue in some cases

Precautions:

• Monitor for Signs of Bleeding: Seek immediate medical attention if experiencing severe or unusual bleeding, black or tarry stools, or blood in urine.
• Avoid in People with Active Bleeding or Certain Conditions: Not recommended for those with active bleeding, certain bleeding disorders, or severe liver disease.
• Take as Prescribed and Don’t Miss Doses: Missing doses can increase the risk of clotting.
• Avoid NSAIDs and Other Blood Thinners: Medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, or other anticoagulants may increase the bleeding risk.
