Used For

  • Major Depressive Disorder (MDD): Helps improve mood, energy, and motivation.
  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD): Reduces excessive worry and nervousness.
  • Neuropathic Pain: Used for nerve pain in conditions like diabetes and fibromyalgia.
  • Chronic Pain Conditions: Helps in musculoskeletal pain, including lower back pain and osteoarthritis.

Side Effects

  • Common: Nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, constipation.
  • Less Common: Increased sweating, weight changes, sexual dysfunction.
  • Serious (Rare):
    • Suicidal Thoughts (More common in young adults at the start of treatment).
    • Liver Toxicity (Yellowing of skin, dark urine—more likely in alcohol users).
