Used For:

1. Primary Indications:
   • Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC):
     • Advanced liver cancer.
   • Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC):
     • Advanced kidney cancer.
   • Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma (DTC):
     • Refractory cases resistant to radioactive iodine therapy.
2. Off-Label Uses:
   • Other cancers based on physician discretion and clinical evidence.

Side Effects:

1. Common Side Effects:
   • Dermatologic: Hand-foot skin reaction (palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia), rash, pruritus.
   • Gastrointestinal: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain.
   • Fatigue: Generalized weakness and lack of energy.
   • Hypertension: Elevated blood pressure.
   • Hair thinning or loss.
2. Serious Side Effects:
   • Hepatotoxicity: Liver function abnormalities, which may be severe.
   • Cardiac Issues: Risk of ischemic heart disease or myocardial infarction.
   • Hemorrhage: Increased risk of bleeding events.
   • Gastrointestinal Perforation: Rare but serious complication.
   • Wound Healing Complications: Delayed healing during and after surgery.

Precautions:

1. Monitoring:
   • Regular liver function tests and monitoring for signs of hepatotoxicity.
   • Blood pressure monitoring to manage hypertension.
   • Routine assessment of thyroid function in thyroid cancer patients.
2. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
   • Contraindicated in pregnancy due to potential teratogenic effects. Effective contraception is required for both men and women during treatment and for at least 2 weeks after stopping therapy.
   • Breastfeeding is not recommended.
