Used For:

  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Reduces symptoms like heartburn, acid reflux, and regurgitation.
  • Peptic Ulcers: Helps heal ulcers in the stomach and upper intestine and prevents new ulcers from forming.
  • Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Manages excessive acid production associated with this condition.
  • Erosive Esophagitis: Treats inflammation and damage caused by stomach acid in the esophagus.

Side Effects:

  • Common Side Effects: May include headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain.
  • Serious Side Effects: Long-term use can increase the risk of bone fractures, vitamin B12 deficiency, and low magnesium levels. Rarely, it may cause severe allergic reactions.

Precautions:

  • Kidney and Liver Health: Use cautiously in individuals with kidney or liver disease, as dosage adjustments may be needed.
