Used For:

  • Treats GERD (acid reflux) and heartburn

  • Heals stomach and duodenal ulcers

  • Part of therapy for H. pylori infections

  • Manages Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (excess stomach acid)

  • Reduces acid by inhibiting the gastric proton pump

Side Effects:

  • Headache, nausea

  • Diarrhea or constipation

  • Long-term use: risk of low magnesium, vitamin B12 deficiency, fractures

Precaution:
