Used For:
- Severe nodular acne
- Acne that has not improved with other treatments, including antibiotics
Side Effects:
Common side effects of Recute Capsules may include:
- Dry skin, lips, and eyes
- Chapped lips
- Mild nosebleeds
- Dry or irritated eyes
- Increased sensitivity to the sun
- Joint and muscle pain
Less common but more serious side effects may include:
- Severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing)
- Vision changes or blurred vision
- Severe abdominal pain
- Persistent headache, nausea, vomiting
- Mood changes, such as depression or anxiety
- Severe skin reactions
- Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
- Hepatotoxicity (liver damage)
Precautions:
- Pregnancy: Isotretinoin can cause severe birth defects. It is absolutely contraindicated during pregnancy. Effective contraception is required during treatment and for at least one month after stopping treatment.
- Blood Donation: Do not donate blood while taking Isotretinoin and for at least one month after stopping treatment to avoid the risk of the drug being given to a pregnant transfusion recipient.
- Liver Function: Regular monitoring of liver function tests may be necessary.
- Lipid Levels: Isotretinoin can increase blood lipid levels, so lipid profiles should be monitored.
- Mental Health: Be aware of potential mood changes and report any signs of depression or suicidal thoughts to your doctor immediately.
- Sun Exposure: Avoid excessive sun exposure and use sunscreen, as Isotretinoin can increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun.
- Eye Care: Use artificial tears to relieve dry eyes if needed. Contact lenses may be uncomfortable to wear during treatment.
- Interactions: Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements, as Isotretinoin can interact with other medications.
