Used For:

Pamaryl is an oral anti-diabetic medication primarily used to treat Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It helps lower blood sugar levels by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas and improving the body’s utilization of insulin.

Side Effects:

Common side effects include:

  • Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) – Symptoms may include dizziness, sweating, tremors, hunger, or confusion.
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Headache
  • Weight gain
  • Allergic reactions – rash, itching, or redness.
  • Rare but serious side effects:
    • Liver dysfunction (jaundice)
    • Severe hypoglycemia leading to fainting or seizures
    • Blood disorders such as anemia

Precautions:

  1. Monitor Blood Sugar Levels: Regularly check your blood sugar to avoid episodes of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia.
  2. Allergies: Avoid if allergic to glimepiride, sulfonylureas, or sulfonamides.
  3. Alcohol: Limit alcohol consumption as it can affect blood sugar control.
  4. Kidney or Liver Impairment: Use cautiously, as glimepiride is metabolized in the liver and excreted through the kidneys.
  5. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor before use. It’s generally not recommended during pregnancy; insulin is preferred.
  6. Driving or Operating Machinery: Be cautious as hypoglycemia may impair concentration or reactions.
