Side Effects:

  • Dryness, flaking, or redness (common during "retinization")

  • Increased sun sensitivity

Precautions:

  • Start with 1-2x/week, gradually increase frequency

  • Always use at night (retinol degrades in sunlight)

  • Mandatory SPF 30+ daytime use to prevent photodamage

  • Avoid with other actives (AHAs/BHAs/vitamin C) unless buffered

  • Not for pregnant/nursing women (risk of vitamin A toxicity)
