Product Description

Product Name: Neege Injection 40mg

Product Form: Injection

Pack Size: 1's

Manufactured By: Sami Pharmaceuticals

Used For:

  1. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Pantoprazole is commonly used to treat GERD, a condition in which stomach acid frequently flows back into the esophagus, causing heartburn and irritation.
  2. Erosive Esophagitis: It helps heal damage to the esophagus caused by stomach acid (erosive esophagitis).
  3. Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Pantoprazole is used in conditions that involve excessive acid production, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
  4. Peptic Ulcers: It may be prescribed for the treatment and prevention of stomach and duodenal ulcers.
  5. H. pylori Infections: Often used in combination with antibiotics to eradicate Helicobacter pylori, a bacteria that contributes to ulcer formation.

Pantoprazole works by blocking the proton pump (H+/K+ ATPase) in the stomach lining, which is responsible for producing stomach acid. By inhibiting this pump, pantoprazole effectively reduces acid production, alleviating symptoms of acid-related disorders and promoting healing.

Side Effects:

Pantoprazole is generally well-tolerated, but like all medications, it can cause side effects.

  • Common Side Effects:

    • Headache
    • Diarrhea
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Stomach pain or discomfort
    • Gas (flatulence)
    • Dizziness
  • Serious Side Effects:

    • Hypomagnesemia (Low Magnesium Levels): Long-term use can lead to low magnesium levels, which may cause symptoms like muscle spasms, irregular heartbeats, and seizures.
    • Bone Fractures: Prolonged use, especially at high doses, has been linked to an increased risk of fractures, particularly of the hip, wrist, or spine.
    • Clostridium difficile Infections: Reduced stomach acid can increase the risk of gastrointestinal infections, including C. difficile-associated diarrhea.
    • Vitamin B12 Deficiency: Long-term use can affect vitamin B12 absorption, potentially leading to deficiency.
    • Allergic Reactions: Rarely, pantoprazole can cause severe allergic reactions, such as rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing.

Precautions:

  1. Long-Term Use: Prolonged use of pantoprazole should be avoided unless absolutely necessary. Long-term use can increase the risk of bone fractures, magnesium deficiency, and vitamin B12 deficiency.

  2. Medical History: Inform your healthcare provider if you have a history of liver disease, osteoporosis, or low magnesium levels before starting pantoprazole.

  3. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Pantoprazole should be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding only if clearly needed and prescribed by your healthcare provider.

  4. Drug Interactions: Pantoprazole may interact with other medications, particularly those that require stomach acid for absorption (e.g., certain antifungals, iron supplements). Always inform your healthcare provider about any other medications or supplements you are taking.

  5. Monitoring: Patients on long-term therapy should have their magnesium and vitamin B12 levels monitored, especially if they have other risk factors for deficiency.
