Used For:

  1. Hypertension (High Blood Pressure): Nebivolol is prescribed to lower blood pressure, which helps reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.
  2. Heart Failure: It may also be used in the management of stable heart failure to improve heart function and reduce symptoms.
  3. Angina Pectoris: Sometimes, nebivolol is used to manage angina (chest pain) by reducing the heart's workload and oxygen demand.

Nebivolol works by blocking beta-1 adrenergic receptors in the heart, leading to:

  • A decrease in heart rate and contractility (the strength of the heart's contractions).
  • Vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) due to its additional action of increasing nitric oxide production, which can help lower blood pressure.

Side Effects:

Nebivolol is generally well tolerated, but some side effects may occur, including:
