Precautions:
-
Electrolyte Monitoring (Indapamide): Indapamide can cause changes in electrolyte levels, particularly potassium and sodium. Regular blood tests may be needed to monitor these levels, especially in elderly patients or those with kidney issues.
-
Swelling (Amlodipine): Amlodipine may cause swelling of the ankles or feet. If this occurs and becomes bothersome, consult your doctor. Dosage adjustments or additional treatments may be needed.
-
Kidney Function: Both components may affect kidney function. Regular kidney function monitoring is recommended, especially in people with pre-existing kidney conditions.
-
Liver Function: Caution is advised in individuals with liver disease, as Amlodipine is metabolized in the liver.
-
Low Blood Pressure: Since both drugs lower blood pressure, there is a risk of blood pressure dropping too low (hypotension), especially when standing up (orthostatic hypotension). Stand up slowly to avoid dizziness.
-
Heart Conditions: Amlodipine can sometimes worsen angina or cause heart failure symptoms. Any worsening chest pain or shortness of breath should be reported immediately.
-
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Natrilam is not generally recommended during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, and its use during breastfeeding should be discussed with a doctor.
-
Alcohol: Alcohol can increase the blood pressure-lowering effects of Natrilam and may exacerbate side effects like dizziness.
-
Drug Interactions: Natrilam can interact with other medications, including other antihypertensives, certain heart medications, and drugs that affect electrolytes (such as certain diuretics). Be sure to inform your healthcare provider about all medications and supplements you are taking.
-
Use in Elderly: Elderly patients may be more susceptible to the side effects of this medication, especially low blood pressure and electrolyte imbalances. Dose adjustments may be necessary.
