Used For:

Moxiget IV Injection is indicated for the treatment of the following infections caused by susceptible bacteria:

  1. Community-Acquired Pneumonia: Severe lung infections.
  2. Complicated Skin and Soft Tissue Infections.
  3. Intra-Abdominal Infections: Complicated infections within the abdomen, such as abscesses.
  4. Chronic Bronchitis: Exacerbations of chronic bronchitis due to bacterial infection.
  5. Other Bacterial Infections: Severe infections where oral treatment is not possible or effective.

Side Effects:

Common side effects include:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Vomiting

Serious side effects (rare but require immediate medical attention) include:

  • Tendon Rupture: Increased risk, particularly in older adults or patients taking corticosteroids.
  • QT Prolongation: Abnormal heart rhythms, which can lead to severe cardiac issues.
  • Peripheral Neuropathy: Nerve damage causing pain, numbness, or weakness.
  • Liver Toxicity: Liver damage or elevated liver enzymes.
  • Severe Allergic Reactions: Rash, swelling, difficulty breathing, or anaphylaxis.

Precautions:

  1. Tendon Rupture: Avoid strenuous physical activities while receiving this medication, as it increases the risk of tendonitis and tendon rupture. If you experience tendon pain or swelling, notify your doctor immediately.
  2. Heart Conditions: Patients with QT prolongation or other heart rhythm disorders should use this medication with caution. Regular heart monitoring may be required.
  3. Liver Function: Patients with liver problems should have their liver function monitored during treatment.
  4. Peripheral Neuropathy: If you experience numbness, tingling, or weakness, report these symptoms immediately to your healthcare provider.
  5. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Moxifloxacin is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless the benefits outweigh the risks.
  6. Drug Interactions: Moxifloxacin can interact with other medications that affect heart rhythm or other antibiotics. Inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are taking.
