Used For:
Moxiget IV Injection is indicated for the treatment of the following infections caused by susceptible bacteria:
- Community-Acquired Pneumonia: Severe lung infections.
- Complicated Skin and Soft Tissue Infections.
- Intra-Abdominal Infections: Complicated infections within the abdomen, such as abscesses.
- Chronic Bronchitis: Exacerbations of chronic bronchitis due to bacterial infection.
- Other Bacterial Infections: Severe infections where oral treatment is not possible or effective.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include:
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Vomiting
Serious side effects (rare but require immediate medical attention) include:
- Tendon Rupture: Increased risk, particularly in older adults or patients taking corticosteroids.
- QT Prolongation: Abnormal heart rhythms, which can lead to severe cardiac issues.
- Peripheral Neuropathy: Nerve damage causing pain, numbness, or weakness.
- Liver Toxicity: Liver damage or elevated liver enzymes.
- Severe Allergic Reactions: Rash, swelling, difficulty breathing, or anaphylaxis.
Precautions:
- Tendon Rupture: Avoid strenuous physical activities while receiving this medication, as it increases the risk of tendonitis and tendon rupture. If you experience tendon pain or swelling, notify your doctor immediately.
- Heart Conditions: Patients with QT prolongation or other heart rhythm disorders should use this medication with caution. Regular heart monitoring may be required.
- Liver Function: Patients with liver problems should have their liver function monitored during treatment.
- Peripheral Neuropathy: If you experience numbness, tingling, or weakness, report these symptoms immediately to your healthcare provider.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Moxifloxacin is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless the benefits outweigh the risks.
- Drug Interactions: Moxifloxacin can interact with other medications that affect heart rhythm or other antibiotics. Inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are taking.
