Used For:

  1. Respiratory Tract Infections: Including pneumonia, acute bronchitis, and sinus infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
  2. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Effective in treating skin infections such as cellulitis and abscesses.
  3. Intra-abdominal Infections: Used for infections within the abdominal cavity, such as peritonitis.
  4. Complicated Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Occasionally used in cases of severe or complicated UTIs.
  5. Bacterial Infections Unresponsive to Other Antibiotics: Used when other antibiotics fail, especially for drug-resistant bacteria.

Side Effects:

Common side effects include:

  1. Nausea or Vomiting
  2. Diarrhea
  3. Headache
  4. Dizziness or Lightheadedness
  5. Injection Site Reactions: Redness, swelling, or pain at the infusion site.

Serious but rare side effects:

  1. Tendon Rupture or Tendonitis: Especially in older adults or those on corticosteroids.
