Used For:

  1. Hypertension (High Blood Pressure): Helps lower blood pressure by removing excess fluid from the body.
  2. Edema (Fluid Retention): Used to treat fluid buildup in conditions such as heart failure, liver cirrhosis, or kidney disorders.
  3. Heart Failure: Reduces the workload on the heart by decreasing fluid retention.
  4. Prevention of Hypokalemia (Low Potassium Levels): Amiloride helps to retain potassium, countering the potassium loss caused by Hydrochlorothiazide.

Side Effects:

Common side effects include:

  1. Increased Urination
  2. Dizziness or Lightheadedness: Especially when standing up quickly, due to low blood pressure.
  3. Electrolyte Imbalances: Low sodium (hyponatremia) or high potassium (hyperkalemia) levels.
  4. Nausea or Stomach Upset

Serious but less common side effects:
