Used For:
- Hypertension (High Blood Pressure): Helps lower blood pressure by removing excess fluid from the body.
- Edema (Fluid Retention): Used to treat fluid buildup in conditions such as heart failure, liver cirrhosis, or kidney disorders.
- Heart Failure: Reduces the workload on the heart by decreasing fluid retention.
- Prevention of Hypokalemia (Low Potassium Levels): Amiloride helps to retain potassium, countering the potassium loss caused by Hydrochlorothiazide.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include:
- Increased Urination
- Dizziness or Lightheadedness: Especially when standing up quickly, due to low blood pressure.
