  3. Electrolyte Imbalances: Low sodium (hyponatremia) or high potassium (hyperkalemia) levels.

Precautions:

  1. Kidney Function: Should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease, as it can worsen kidney function or cause dangerous potassium buildup.
  2. Potassium Levels: Regular monitoring of potassium levels is important, particularly in patients with kidney issues or those taking potassium supplements.
  3. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor before using during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  4. Avoid Potassium Supplements or Salt Substitutes: Amiloride can cause potassium retention, so avoid additional potassium intake unless recommended by a doctor.
  5. Monitor Blood Pressure: Regularly check your blood pressure, as this medication may cause significant drops.
