Used For:

  • Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM):
    • Helps lower blood sugar levels in adults when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.
    • Often used in combination with other antidiabetic medications like metformin or insulin.

Side Effects:

  1. Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar):

    • Symptoms: Sweating, dizziness, shakiness, hunger, confusion, irritability, or fainting.

  2. Gastrointestinal:

    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Diarrhea or constipation

  3. General:

    • Headache
    • Fatigue or weakness

  4. Skin Reactions:

    • Rash or itching (allergic reaction).
    • Increased sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity).

Precautions:

  1. Medical History:

    • Inform your doctor if you have:
      • Liver or kidney problems (may require dose adjustments).
      • G6PD deficiency (risk of hemolytic anemia).
      • Heart disease or hormonal imbalances (e.g., thyroid disorders).

  2. Risk of Hypoglycemia:
