Used For:
Levofloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections, including respiratory infections (such as pneumonia, bronchitis), urinary tract infections, skin infections, and sinusitis. It is also used for treating certain gastrointestinal infections and prostatitis.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and insomnia. Serious but rare side effects include tendon rupture, nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy), severe allergic reactions, and QT prolongation (a heart rhythm disorder). It may also increase sensitivity to sunlight.
Precautions:
Levofloxacin should be used cautiously in individuals with kidney disease, a history of seizures, or heart rhythm disorders.
