Used For:

Levoptic Eye Drops contain levobunolol, a non-selective beta-blocker used to:

  • Lower Intraocular Pressure (IOP): To manage elevated intraocular pressure in conditions such as open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
  • Reduce Risk of Vision Loss: By controlling IOP, it helps prevent damage to the optic nerve and potential vision loss.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Levoptic Eye Drops may include:

  • Temporary burning or stinging in the eye after application
  • Dry eyes or blurred vision
  • Redness or irritation of the eye
  • Headache

Less common but more serious side effects may include:

  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing)
  • Eye pain or discomfort
  • Signs of a new or worsening eye infection
  • Changes in vision (e.g., decreased visual acuity)
  • Systemic effects due to absorption, such as:
    • Slow heart rate (bradycardia)
    • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
    • Dizziness or lightheadedness
    • Fatigue or depression

Precautions:

  • Allergic Reactions: Ensure there are no known allergies to levobunolol or any other beta-blockers. Discontinue use and seek medical attention if an allergic reaction occurs.
  • Heart and Lung Conditions: Use with caution in individuals with heart conditions (e.g., bradycardia, heart block) or lung conditions (e.g., asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), as systemic absorption can potentially exacerbate these conditions.
  • Diabetes: Use with caution in individuals with diabetes, as beta-blockers can mask symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Levobunolol should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare provider.
