Used For:

Thyroid Cancer:
- Differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) that has progressed or spread to other parts of the body and is not amenable to radioactive iodine treatment. It is used in cases where other therapies have not been effective.

Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC):
- Used as a first-line treatment for advanced liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) in patients who have not been treated with previous systemic therapies.

Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC):
- Used in combination with everolimus for advanced kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma) after failure of other treatments.

Endometrial Cancer:
- Lenvatinib is used in combination with pembrolizumab for the treatment of certain advanced or recurrent endometrial carcinoma, particularly for patients who have not responded to prior therapies.

Common Side Effects:
- Fatigue
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Diarrhea
- Decreased appetite
- Nausea
- Weight loss
- Hand-foot syndrome (painful redness and swelling of the palms of the hands and soles of the feet)

Serious Side Effects:
- Heart issues: Increased risk of high blood pressure, heart failure, or other cardiovascular events.
- Liver damage: Liver toxicity can occur, and liver function should be monitored.
- Gastrointestinal perforation: A rare but serious side effect involving holes in the stomach or intestines.
- Proteinuria: Excess protein in the urine, which may indicate kidney problems.
- Bleeding: Increases the risk of bleeding in certain areas of the body.

- Thyroid issues: Hypothyroidism (low thyroid function) is a potential side effect, and thyroid function should be monitored during treatment.
- Infections: Patients may be more susceptible to infections during treatment.
Precautions:

Hypertension:
- Monitor blood pressure regularly, as lenvatinib can increase blood pressure. Antihypertensive medications may be required.

Liver Function:
- Liver function tests should be done before and during treatment, as lenvatinib can cause liver toxicity.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
- Lenvatinib can cause fetal harm and should not be used during pregnancy. Effective contraception is recommended during treatment and for a period after stopping the medication.
- It is not known if lenvatinib passes into breast milk, so breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.
