Used For:

• Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD):
  • Relieving heartburn.
  • Healing and maintaining healing of erosive esophagitis.
• Reducing stomach acid production in conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (off-label).

Side Effects:

• Gastrointestinal:

  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal pain

• General:

  • Headache
  • Dizziness

• Rare but Serious:

  • Vitamin B12 deficiency (with long-term use)
  • Low magnesium levels (hypomagnesemia), leading to muscle cramps, irregular heartbeat, or seizures.
  • Bone fractures (with prolonged high doses)
  • Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea

Precautions:
