Used For:

Indofer 100mg Tablets contain Iron (Ferrous Fumarate), used primarily for:

  • Iron deficiency anemia: to increase iron levels in the body, which is crucial for the production of hemoglobin in red blood cells.
  • Preventing iron deficiency in individuals at risk, such as pregnant women, menstruating women, and those with certain dietary restrictions or malabsorption issues.
  • Supporting overall health by ensuring adequate iron levels, which can improve energy levels and reduce fatigue.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Indofer 100mg Tablets may include:

  • Gastrointestinal discomfort (nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea)
  • Darkened stools (a common and harmless side effect of iron supplementation)
  • Abdominal pain or cramping

Less common but more serious side effects may include:

  • Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing)
  • Iron overload (symptoms may include fatigue, joint pain, and abdominal pain), especially in patients with pre-existing conditions like hemochromatosis.

If any severe side effects occur, discontinue use and seek immediate medical attention.

Precautions:

  • Allergies: Do not use Indofer if you are allergic to ferrous fumarate or any other component in the formulation.
  • Medical Conditions: Inform your healthcare provider if you have any medical conditions, particularly hemochromatosis, hemolytic anemia, or liver disease, as iron supplements may not be appropriate.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Indofer is generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but it’s advisable to consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice.
  • Drug Interactions: Certain medications (e.g., antacids, calcium supplements, or some antibiotics) can interfere with iron absorption. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications and supplements you are taking.
  • Dosing: Follow the prescribed dosage instructions carefully. Taking more than the recommended dose can lead to serious side effects, including iron toxicity.
