Used For:

Imdur 60mg Tablet contains Isosorbide Mononitrate, a nitrate used to prevent chest pain (angina) in people with heart conditions, particularly coronary artery disease. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, making it easier for blood to flow to the heart, reducing the strain on the heart, and preventing angina attacks. It is not used to treat acute angina attacks but as a long-term management tool.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Imdur 60mg Tablet may include:

  • Headache (often at the start of treatment)
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Flushing (warmth, redness, or tingling)
  • Nausea
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension)

If you experience severe side effects such as fainting, chest pain worsening, or an allergic reaction (swelling, difficulty breathing), seek immediate medical attention.

Precautions:

  • Allergies: Do not use Imdur if you are allergic to nitrates or any of the ingredients in this medication.
  • Low Blood Pressure: This medication can cause low blood pressure, so use caution if you already have low blood pressure or are on blood pressure-lowering medications.
  • Other Heart Medications: Avoid using Imdur with certain medications for erectile dysfunction (e.g., sildenafil, tadalafil) as it can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
  • Alcohol: Limit alcohol consumption, as it may increase the risk of dizziness or fainting.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • Kidney/Liver Disease: Let your doctor know if you have liver or kidney problems, as dosage adjustments may be necessary.
  • Driving and Machinery: Imdur may cause dizziness, so avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medication affects you.
