Used For:

  • Bacterial Infections: Hospilid contains Linezolid, an antibiotic that is effective against a variety of bacterial infections, including:
    • Pneumonia
    • Skin and soft tissue infections
    • Infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
    • Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE) infections

Side Effects:

  • Common side effects may include:

    • Diarrhea
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Headache
    • Dizziness
  • Less common but more severe side effects can include:

    • Bone marrow suppression (leading to anemia, thrombocytopenia, or leukopenia)
    • Peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage)
    • Lactic acidosis (symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and difficulty breathing)
    • Serotonin syndrome (especially if taken with other serotonergic drugs, symptoms include agitation, hallucinations, fever, sweating, shivering, rapid heartbeat, and muscle stiffness)

Precautions:

  • Allergies: Inform your doctor if you are allergic to linezolid or any other medications.

  • Medical Conditions: Inform your doctor if you have a history of hypertension, hyperthyroidism, seizures, or liver or kidney disease.
