Used For:

  • Treatment of chronic hepatitis C infection in adults and children aged 6 years or older.
  • Effective against all major genotypes of HCV (genotypes 1–6).

Side Effects:

  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Insomnia
  • Diarrhea
  • Rarely, serious allergic reactions or slow heart rate when combined with certain other medications (e.g., amiodarone).

Precautions:

  • Not recommended for use with strong inducers of certain enzymes (e.g., rifampin, carbamazepine) as they can reduce efficacy.
  • Use cautiously in patients with severe liver impairment or concurrent hepatitis B infection.
