Used For:

• Type 2 Diabetes Management – Helps lower blood sugar when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.
• Glibenclamide (Sulfonylurea): Stimulates the pancreas to produce more insulin.
• Metformin HCl (Biguanide): Reduces glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity.

Side Effects:

• Common:

  • Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) – Sweating, shakiness, dizziness, hunger
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • Stomach discomfort or bloating
  • Headache or dizziness

• Serious (Less Common):

  • Severe hypoglycemia – May lead to fainting or seizures if not treated
  • Lactic Acidosis (Metformin-related, rare but serious) – Symptoms: Weakness, muscle pain, breathing difficulty
  • Liver or kidney problems – Symptoms: Dark urine, yellowing of skin (jaundice)
  • Allergic reactions – Rash, itching, swelling

Precautions:

• Not for Type 1 Diabetes or Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Avoid alcohol to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis
