Used For:

  • Treatment of depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).
  • Also used for social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Side Effects:

  • Common: Nausea, dry mouth, drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness, or sweating.
  • Rare: Weight changes, decreased libido, or sleep disturbances.

Precautions:

  • Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent withdrawal symptoms.
  • Use cautiously in patients with a history of seizures or bipolar disorder.
  • May take 1–4 weeks to observe significant improvement.
  • Avoid alcohol while on this medication.
