Used For:

Furolin 100mg Tablets contain nitrofurantoin, an antibiotic used to treat and prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Side Effects:

Common side effects may include:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Loss of appetite
• Headache
• Dizziness

Less common but more serious side effects can include:

• Lung problems (persistent cough, chest pain, difficulty breathing)
• Liver problems (yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine)
• Severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing)
• Nerve problems (numbness or tingling in the hands or feet)
• Changes in blood counts (unusual tiredness, easy bruising or bleeding)

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor if you are allergic to nitrofurantoin or any other medications.
• Use with caution if you have kidney disease, as it may affect the elimination of the drug.
• Not recommended for use during the last 2-4 weeks of pregnancy.
• Inform your doctor if you have any history of liver disease, lung disease, or certain genetic conditions (G6PD deficiency).
• Nitrofurantoin may cause live bacterial vaccines (such as typhoid vaccine) to not work as well. Do not have any immunizations/vaccinations while using this medication unless your doctor tells you to.
• Use with caution in the elderly, as they may be more sensitive to its side effects, especially lung problems.
• Furolin may cause your urine to turn dark yellow or brown. This is normal and not harmful.
• Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed, even if symptoms disappear after a few days.
• Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication to help prevent kidney stones.
