Used For:

  • Treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

  • Relieves heartburn and acid indigestion

  • Heals and prevents stomach and duodenal ulcers

  • Reduces stomach acid production (H2 blocker)

  • Used in Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

Side Effects:

  • Headache, dizziness

  • Constipation or diarrhea

  • Rare: Allergic reaction, confusion (in elderly)

Precaution:

  • Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment (dose adjustment may be needed)

  • Avoid using with other acid reducers unless advised
