Used For:

  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Helps reduce acid reflux, heartburn, and irritation in the esophagus caused by stomach acid.
  • Erosive Esophagitis: Promotes healing of the esophagus where damage has occurred due to stomach acid.
  • Hypersecretory Conditions: Like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, where the stomach produces excessive amounts of acid.

Side Effects:

Common side effects may include:

  • Headache
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Abdominal pain
  • Flatulence (gas)
  • Dizziness

Less common but more serious side effects can include:

  • Vitamin B12 deficiency (with long-term use)
