Used For:
Es-Pramcit tablets contain escitalopram, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It is used to:
- Treat Major Depressive Disorder (MDD): To improve mood and relieve symptoms of depression.
- Treat Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD): To reduce excessive anxiety and worry.
- Manage Panic Disorder: To alleviate symptoms of panic attacks.
- Treat Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD): To reduce symptoms associated with OCD.
Side Effects:
Common side effects of Es-Pramcit 5mg may include:
- Nausea
- Dry mouth
- Fatigue or drowsiness
- Insomnia or sleep disturbances
- Weight gain or loss
- Increased sweating
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
Less common but more serious side effects may include:
- Severe allergic reactions (e.g., rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing)
- Suicidal thoughts or behaviors, especially in younger individuals
- Serotonin syndrome (e.g., confusion, hallucination, seizure, extreme agitation, fever, sweating, shivering, muscle spasm or stiffness)
- Severe mood changes (e.g., mania, hypomania)
- Persistent or severe gastrointestinal issues (e.g., vomiting, diarrhea)
- Abnormal bleeding or bruising
Precautions:
- Mental Health Monitoring: Monitor for worsening depression, suicidal thoughts, or unusual changes in behavior, especially during the initial treatment period or when adjusting doses.
- Drug Interactions: Inform your healthcare provider of all other medications and supplements you are taking, as escitalopram can interact with other drugs, including other antidepressants, certain pain medications, and blood thinners.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Escitalopram is generally considered safe during pregnancy but should be used under medical supervision. It is also excreted in breast milk, so consult your healthcare provider if breastfeeding.
- Discontinuation: Do not abruptly stop taking escitalopram without consulting your healthcare provider, as this can lead to withdrawal symptoms or worsening of your condition.
- Liver Function: Dose adjustments may be necessary for individuals with liver impairment. Regular monitoring of liver function may be required.
