Used For: 

Emsyn Met is a combination medication containing ondansetron (12.5mg) and metformin (1000mg). It is primarily used to manage type 2 diabetes and to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, surgery, or other medical conditions.

• Ondansetron helps prevent nausea and vomiting by blocking serotonin receptors in the brain.
• Metformin is used to improve glycemic control by decreasing glucose production in the liver and increasing insulin sensitivity.

Side Effects:

Common side effects may include:

• Nausea or vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Stomach pain
• Constipation
• Headache
• Dizziness

Serious but rare side effects:

• Lactic acidosis (a rare but serious metabolic condition associated with metformin)
• Ketoacidosis (high acid levels in the blood)
• Severe allergic reactions
• Changes in heart rhythm (QT prolongation)

Precautions:

• Not suitable for individuals with type 1 diabetes or those prone to diabetic ketoacidosis.
