Used For:
- Chronic Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP): Elopag, also known as Eltrombopag, is used to treat chronic immune thrombocytopenia in adults and children over 1 year of age who have not responded to other treatments. This condition is characterized by low platelet counts that lead to an increased risk of bleeding.
- Chronic Hepatitis C-Associated Thrombocytopenia: Used in combination with interferon-based therapy to manage thrombocytopenia (low platelet counts) associated with chronic hepatitis C infection.
Side Effects:
- Headache: Common side effect experienced by some patients.
- Nausea and Vomiting: Gastrointestinal symptoms including nausea or vomiting.
- Diarrhea: May cause gastrointestinal upset.
