Precautions:

  • Allergic Reactions: Ensure there are no known allergies to cefadroxil, other cephalosporins, or penicillins before using Duricef. Discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention if an allergic reaction occurs.
  • Diarrhea: Cefadroxil can cause diarrhea. If severe or persistent diarrhea occurs, especially if it is bloody or watery, contact your healthcare provider as it may indicate Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea.
  • Kidney and Liver Function: Monitor kidney and liver function, especially in patients with pre-existing conditions affecting these organs. Dose adjustments may be needed.
  • Drug Interactions: Inform your healthcare provider of all other medications and supplements you are taking, as cefadroxil can interact with certain drugs, including anticoagulants and other antibiotics.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Cefadroxil is generally considered safe during pregnancy but should be used under medical supervision. It also passes into breast milk, so consult your healthcare provider if breastfeeding.
  • Dosage: Follow the prescribed dosage and instructions carefully. Overuse or misuse of antibiotics can lead to reduced effectiveness and increased risk of resistance.
