Used For:
- Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Helps lower blood sugar by promoting glucose excretion through urine.
- Heart Failure: Reduces the risk of hospitalization and cardiovascular complications.
- Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD): Protects kidney function and slows disease progression.
- Weight Management: May assist in weight loss due to increased glucose loss.
Side Effects:
Common side effects:
- Increased urination
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Genital infections (yeast infections)
- Mild dehydration (dizziness, dry mouth)
- Low blood sugar (if combined with insulin or sulfonylureas)
Serious side effects (rare but require medical attention):
