Used For:

  • Lowers high cholesterol (LDL-C)

  • Increases good cholesterol (HDL-C)

  • Reduces triglycerides (fat levels in blood)

  • Prevents heart attacks and strokes

  • Used in patients with heart disease or diabetes to reduce cardiovascular risk

Side Effects:

  • Muscle pain or weakness (myopathy)

  • Headache or dizziness

  • Stomach pain or nausea

  • Increased liver enzymes (rare but needs monitoring)

  • Rare: Severe muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis)

Precautions:

  • Avoid excessive alcohol (may increase liver strain)
