Used For:

  • High blood pressure (hypertension) (more effective together than alone)

  • Reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke

  • Improves blood flow and reduces heart strain

  • May help in kidney protection for diabetic patients (Telmisartan)

Side Effects:

  1. Amlodipine (Calcium Channel Blocker):

    • Swelling in legs or feet (edema)

    • Dizziness or lightheadedness

    • Flushing or warmth in the face

    • Fatigue

    • Rapid heartbeat (palpitations)

  2. Telmisartan (ARB – Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker):

    • Dizziness or low blood pressure (hypotension)

    • Increased potassium levels (hyperkalemia)

    • Fatigue

    • Rarely, kidney problems

Precautions:

  • Avoid in pregnancy (Telmisartan can harm the baby)

  • Monitor kidney function & potassium levels regularly

  • Can cause dizziness – stand up slowly from sitting/lying down

  • Avoid high-potassium foods (like bananas, oranges) if at risk of hyperkalemia

  • May interact with NSAIDs and diuretics
