Used For:

  • Chronic Heart Failure: Coralan 7.5 mg is used to treat stable chronic heart failure in patients with a heart rate of 70 beats per minute or more.
  • Chronic Stable Angina: It is also prescribed to reduce symptoms of chronic stable angina (chest pain), particularly in patients who cannot take beta-blockers.

Side Effects:

Common side effects include:

  • Bradycardia (slow heart rate)
  • Luminous phenomena (Phosphenes): Visual disturbances, often described as seeing bright lights or halos.
  • Fatigue and Dizziness
  • Headaches

Less common, but more serious side effects:

  • Atrial Fibrillation: An irregular heart rhythm.
  • Severe Bradycardia: Extremely slow heart rate, which may cause fainting.
  • Low Blood Pressure: Can lead to dizziness or fainting.

Precautions:

  • Heart Rate: Not recommended if the resting heart rate is below 70 beats per minute.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Should not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
