Product Form: Tablets

Pack Size: 20's

Manufactured By: Bosch Pharmaceuticals

Used For:

Caloc 5mg tablets contain amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and angina (chest pain). By relaxing blood vessels, it allows blood to flow more easily, which helps to lower blood pressure and reduce the workload on the heart, preventing heart attacks, strokes, and kidney problems.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Caloc 5mg may include:

  • Swelling of the ankles or feet (edema)
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Fatigue
  • Flushing (warmth, redness, or tingling of the skin)
  • Nausea

Less common but more serious side effects may include:

  • Severe chest pain (worsening of angina)
  • Irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
  • Severe dizziness or fainting
  • Allergic reactions (e.g., rash, itching, swelling, especially of the face/tongue/throat)
  • Liver problems (e.g., yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine)

Precautions:

  • Blood Pressure Monitoring: Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended while on Caloc, as the medication can cause significant drops in blood pressure, especially when starting the treatment or increasing the dose.
  • Heart Conditions: If you have a history of heart failure, coronary artery disease, or other heart conditions, use Caloc with caution and under medical supervision.
  • Liver Function: Patients with liver impairment may require dose adjustments and close monitoring, as amlodipine is metabolized in the liver.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Caloc should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and after consulting with a healthcare provider. It is generally not recommended during breastfeeding, as it is unknown if amlodipine passes into breast milk.
  • Drug Interactions: Inform your doctor of all medications you are taking, including other blood pressure medications, as Caloc can interact with them, potentially leading to excessively low blood pressure.
  • Alcohol: Avoid excessive alcohol consumption, as it can increase the risk of side effects like dizziness and further lower blood pressure.
  • Driving and Operating Machinery: Caloc may cause dizziness or drowsiness, so caution is advised when driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medication affects you.
